1. Getting Started

Welcome to the REC Marketplace Creator Guide. This guide will walk you through the process of issuing your own Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) on the blockchain.

Before you begin, make sure you have: (a) a Web3 wallet such as MetaMask installed and connected; (b) some Sepolia ETH for gas fees; (c) valid renewable energy generation data for the certificate you want to issue.

2. Connect Your Wallet

Click the 'Connect Wallet' button in the top-right corner of the header. Select your wallet provider (MetaMask, WalletConnect, etc.) and approve the connection request.

Make sure you are connected to the Sepolia Testnet. The network indicator in the wallet dropdown should show a green dot with 'Sepolia Testnet'.

3. Creating a REC

Navigate to the 'Create REC' page from the header menu or go directly to /create.

Step 1 — Select Energy Type: Choose from Solar, Wind, Hydro, or Geothermal. Each type represents a different source of renewable energy generation.

Step 2 — Enter REC Amount: Specify the number of RECs you want to issue. Each REC represents a unit of renewable energy generation.

Step 3 — CO2 Calculation: The platform automatically calculates the estimated CO2 reduction based on 1 REC = 250 kg CO2 saved.

Step 4 — Upload Image (Optional): You can upload an image for your certificate. If no image is provided, a default energy type icon will be used.

Step 5 — Preview & Mint: Review the live preview on the right side of the screen, then click 'Create REC' to submit the transaction.

4. Certificate Naming

Certificate names are automatically generated using the format: [Energy Type] #[Issue Number]. For example: Solar #0001, Wind #0002.

The issue number is determined by the total supply of REC NFTs on the smart contract, ensuring each certificate has a unique sequential identifier.

5. After Minting

Once your transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, your REC will appear in: (a) your Dashboard under 'My Assets'; (b) the 'My RECs' page; (c) the Marketplace 'Featured REC' section on the homepage.

From the Dashboard, click 'Manage' on any REC to access detailed management options including selling, transferring, and retiring certificates.

6. Selling Your RECs

To list a REC for sale: (a) go to Dashboard > My Assets > click 'Manage' on the REC; (b) click 'Sell on Marketplace'; (c) approve the NFT transfer to the marketplace contract; (d) confirm the listing transaction.

Your REC will then appear on the Marketplace page where other users can purchase it with USDT or RECEN tokens.

Pricing is set at 1 REC = 45 USDT or 1 REC = 23 RECEN. Trading fees are 3% for USDT and 1.5% for RECEN.

7. Best Practices

Accuracy: Only issue RECs based on verified renewable energy generation. Fraudulent claims undermine the platform's credibility.

Documentation: Keep records of your energy generation data for audit purposes.

Wallet Security: Use a hardware wallet for significant REC holdings. Never share your private keys.

Gas Optimization: Batch your REC issuances during low network congestion periods to reduce gas costs.
