Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 7, 2025

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience.

REC Marketplace uses cookies and similar technologies (such as localStorage) to maintain essential platform functionality.

2. Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies: These are required for the platform to function properly. They include: (a) wallet connection session data — maintains your Web3 wallet connection across page navigations; (b) WalletConnect session tokens — required for the RainbowKit wallet integration; (c) chain/network preferences — remembers your selected blockchain network (e.g., Sepolia Testnet).

Functional Cookies: These enhance your experience by remembering preferences such as: (a) theme settings (light/dark mode); (b) language preferences; (c) recently viewed RECs.

Analytics Cookies: We may use anonymized analytics cookies to understand how users interact with the platform. These collect aggregated data about page views, feature usage, and navigation patterns. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics cookies.

3. Blockchain & Local Storage

In addition to cookies, the platform uses browser localStorage to cache blockchain query results for performance. This includes: (a) cached REC metadata to reduce on-chain read requests; (b) token balance caches for faster UI rendering; (c) transaction history for the notification system.

This cached data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some third-party services integrated into the platform may set their own cookies: (a) WalletConnect / RainbowKit — for wallet connection and session management; (b) Infura / Alchemy — for blockchain RPC communication (no cookies, but API requests include your IP address); (c) Etherscan — if you click external links to view transactions.

We do not control third-party cookies. Please refer to each provider's privacy policy for details.

5. Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies through your browser settings: (a) Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies; (b) Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies; (c) Safari: Preferences > Privacy; (d) Edge: Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions.

Please note that disabling essential cookies may prevent the platform from functioning correctly, particularly wallet connection and transaction signing features.

To clear REC Marketplace data specifically, you can: (a) disconnect your wallet using the Logout button; (b) clear site data in your browser's developer tools; (c) clear localStorage through browser settings.

6. Do Not Track

REC Marketplace respects Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. When DNT is enabled, we disable all non-essential analytics cookies.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as we adopt new technologies or change our practices. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
